Andiamo al Opera ! - Ristorante Trussardi alla Scala, Milano

Dear friends,

I just realized that it had been a little while since I didn’t post about my lovely Milano.
I found in my archives some great photos of one oft he best meal I did in Milano during last year: The Trussardi alla Scala restaurant, on the 1st floor of the Trussardi store.
I somehow completely forgot to talk to you about this great gastro restaurant, which has probably one of the best views one can get in central Milan.

A young chef, who loves to revisit the classics of Italian cuisine, with a twist of molecular, “el Bulli” magic, manages the Trussardi alla Scala. Imagine a wild Caro Cracco destructuring your Nonna’s home made lasagnes.

When I went there with my parents (I swear, they eat a lot at home actually!), we were first amazed by the restaurant itself. I mean, the place is magnifique ! Decorated by Trussardi’s finest designers, with a line of window overviewing la Scala on one side and the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele on the other. You basically just feel special.

We took the tasting menu that looked really interesting. And it was! After some molecular appetizers we enjoyed a delicious Caprese revisited by the chef with a kind of Basil jelly, Tomato and Mozzarella balls. We then had a great fish, dropped on a crispy bready surface with a little white sauce. The meat following was absolutely stunning and well slow cooked and crispy.

And after talking with my friend Stefano who was there not long ago (he passed by my house last night with a Sacher Torte from Cova and some bresaola from Peck ! Thanks again it was amazingly delicious and so nice of you !!!), we highly recommend the Risotto alla Milanese with the osso bucco as well as the Langoustine carpaccio topped with risotto as well. “ amazing dishes!

One of the most impressive parts of the menu though was the dessert! With a festival of crushed flavoured ice, fuming spheres and chocolate madness!!

It doesn’t come cheap (av. 150€ average for the tasting menu) but honestly it s totally worth it ! even more if I dare compare with the prices of restaurants in Zürich or Geneva.
I can only recommend you to go there either with your family or, even better, with your loved one to celebrate a special occasion. Don’t forget to ask for a table next to the window if you are two.
