Just Grab a pint and join us mate !!

Dear friends,

I have been travelling quite a lot lately and didn't really had time to talk to you about my second amazing discovery in London a few weeks ago.

It is called the Pig's Ear and it is probably one of London’s best pub to eat. It was really a discovery for since I am not really familiar with traditional British food. To tell you the truth, when my friends Max and Florian told me we were going to eat in a pub, I was a bit worried. But the great thing with these guys, who are actually brothers (Florian is one of my partner in crime in Milan these days, especially when truffles are involved), is that they love food as much as I love it and I can just totally trust them when it comes to restaurant (specially in London where they know everything).

So here I was, on a rainy Friday evening, trying to reach the pub on time (obviously arrived 30 minutes late), overdressed and tired. Two Hendricks and Tonic later, I was super happy, thrilled to meet again my friend Elsa, Luciano and Caro, and ready to order!

Some of our guests decided to go for more classical food but I couldn’t resist the appeal of the proper super heavy pub food. This is why I first ordered a Scotch egg as a starter and then the famous shepherd’s pie (I just hope my gym coach is not reading this article).

The Scotch egg is basically a boiled egg, wrapped with meet, which is deep fried and has a crispy crust. Oh, and Scottish whisky is somehow involved along the cooking (You got to love the Scots!). It is probably one of the heaviest ways to eat an egg but believe me, it is really delicious!

The shepherd’s pie on the other hand is a dish that could be compared to the French “Hachis Parmentier”, except it is made generally with lamb. Your doctor won’t advise you to even approach a plate but it was as well a real delicacy.

We also tried the grilled beef, served with fries that ended up beating our highest expectations.

I can only recommend this place if you are looking for a true British experience, or just want to hang out with your friends and enjoy a relaxed evening (with a few pints on the table of course; that what we did. Oh! And prices are on the sweet side for London which is always good to mention.

From Milano with Love,
Mr. Nico
