Let's dicover the french KGB

Dear friends,

I apologise for not posting anything last week, I was travelling in Israel and had difficulties posting on the blog.
I want to talk to you here about a place I visited in Paris a few weeks ago with my friend Alexandra. It had been a while since we had diner together so I wanted to go somewhere special.

I decided, following recommendations I found on itaste.com, to go try the 'Kitchen Gallery Bis'. It is actually the tender restaurant to the famous Kitchen Gallery which opened around 10 years ago in the same street.
The Kitchen gallery was a restaurant that broke the code of 'gastro' when it opened by serving great dishes for a reasonable price with no cloth on the table and graffiti on the wall. Then, along with the recognition and the success, I think they kind of lost the spirit along the way.

I found at the KGB what I discovered 10 years ago at the gallery: Great food, nice and casual service and coolness.

We decided to go for the 60 euros menu which included a lot of little appetisers, a fish or a meat and a dessert. We were really delighted by the starters that were tasty, well executed and very original, like this risotto spoon you basically ate.The main course were then, although very good and well cooked, a bit less surprising and fun. But the chocolate dessert just saved it all!! The waiter recommended us a very nice wine (although the wine list is quite expensive with very few wine under 50€) from the 'Coteaux du Luberon' that was fantastic on the meat and the chocolate!

We then went, after this great diner, for a last drink in one of Paris best kept secret: L'Hotel. It is actually the name of a hotel in the rue des beaux-arts that was completely refurbish a few years back by Jacques Garcia. The 3 most noticeable thing about that place are that : Oscar Wilde died in one of the room back in the 1900's, the dungeon-like toilets and indoor pool are a must see and the bar is always full of celebs avoiding the parisian crowd.

At the end of the night, Alexandra and I agreed that, a diner at KGB + a drink at L'Hotel, was probably one of Paris' best date combo. So guys, you now know where to go to either impress a foreign girlfriend or to amaze a parisian girl who's probably not used to those addresses.
I will post during the week other nice places I discovered both in Paris and Tel-Aviv !

From Cannes with love,
Mr. Nico
