Sea delights by the Seine

Dear Friends,

At the beginning of the week, I went for diner with my grand father and his friend. My grand father is travelling more than me so I was lucky to catch him between two planes. Everytime, he takes me to try new restaurant in Paris and thanks to him, I discovered the best soufflé of Paris a few years ago (soon I'll talk to you about it).

This time we went to try a fairly new place called Chez Antoine. It is located next to the Alma bridge and has a great view over the Eiffel tower.

The speciality there are the fish. Actually, the place just won an award regarding the food.

I first choose the Ambassador's Entree which was a fantastic combo of the most popular starters. I enjoyed a delicious sea bass carpaccio with summer truffles, a perfectly cooked salmon tataki, some Daurade tartar and finally shrimps and sole tempura ! One of my yummiest starter lately.

We then ordered a fish called "marbré", which is a look alike of the Daurade. It was slightly pan fried and was served with crispy vegetables. I am now an addict to that fish.

And obviously, for the dessert, I just couldn't resist the Ambassador's desserts ! Vanilla ice cream on speculoos and chocolate tart were just the most delicious part of it.

Since it is summer in Paris, we had the pleasure to share a Chateau Minuty reserve that was actually really good with the fishes (although I'll always be a Barbeyrolle guy).

The service was as well amazingly nice and efficient but no wonder to that...Antoine was the F&B director of the Bristol for more than 15 years.

That place isn't cheap (around a 100€/pax) but is defenetly worth the trip...you just need to find something to celebrate !

UPDATE MARCH 2011:
Antoine received its first Michelin star this year (congratulations ! ) but apparently the prices took the elevator to go on a next level (150€ minimum/pax) so watch out before going on a date there !
