Like a fish in the water

Yesterday I went for diner with my cousin Marc-Antoine. He has been living in Paris for ages and knows very good hidden places. So when he told me that we were going to eat the best sushis of Paris, I knew he was not only teasing me.

When we arrived in this tiny restaurant that looks like a bathroom with a counter, in a little street of the 16th, I knew we were at the right place. There is only nine seats and except the chef behid the fish counter, one waiter.

The place is called "Comme des poissons". I kind of really like the fact that it has a french name and not the typical japanese sushi shop name (matsuri, fujiyama,etc.). The restaurant, with its really nice and smilling chef reminded me of all the mangas I was watching on tv when I was still a little boy (you know, Dragon ball, Nikki Larson, and all). All the heros were always eating in little restaurant or booth like "Comme des poissons", only it was a fictionnal Japan. The place doesn't look really nice but that is not the point.

We were first hesitating about what to choose but we finally decided to order the chef's special sushi menu (50€). And it was just a festival of tastes, flavours, fishes, sauces and off course, rice. I didn't touch the soy sauce bottle since all the sushis were pre-sauced by the chef himself just before he was bending over the counter to drop them in your plate. It could have been weird and long but timing was perfect !
I don't want to detail too much the menu because I would just spoil the sursprise I experienced.

Therefore there won't be any picture or detailled dishes on that post. I think you just have to rush there !

It is open on sunday night and you might eve be able to do take-away.

If you have to eat japanese food, and specially sushis, only once in your life in Paris, just go there. But watch out, since it is really small, you'd better book at least a week and a half in advance (except, off course, if you are in Paris like me in the middle of the sumer when the town is empty).

This week, I won't be going that much to restaurants since I have a lot of diners at friend's places! We are hosting on Wednesday.
