Lausanne's classical charm

Being back to Switzerland after finishing my exams last week, I went to visit some very dear friend in Lausanne where I lived for a while.

Although I am always keen on discovering new thing, I insisted to have diner at the Grand Chene, the brasserie of the Lausanne Palace. It is a bit my Proust's Madeleine in Lausanne. I spent so much time there, and had such wonderful diners that going there is always a special moment to me.

I can only recommend you to get a table on the ground floor, where the action happens surrounded by wooden walls.

The brasserie serves very typical french food like the Pot-auIfeu, or the foie gras. It could be considered a bit pricy but portions a big and the quality of the ingredients is the one you expect from a palace hotel.

I enjoyed a delicious grilled fish and my friends some milanese style veal. As a dessert, we had a fantastic chocolate mousse made out of 3 chocolate (black, milky and white).

I also choose the same wine I walways drink there : a powerful swiss wine from ticino called Dogaia. Although it was a bit strong over the fish, I just couldn't order anything else.

Since we were all a bit tired, we passed on the after diner cocktails. But I can only advise you to go to the havana bar from hotel to try Angelo's wonderful creation. He is one of my favorite barman worldwide. His cocktails are amazing and he is always keen to talk to you about it with his singing Italian accent. Just ask for his Horse's neck or his famous zombie ( a rhum cocktail with some special rhum where he infuse a monte cristo cigar!!)

I am thanking here my great friends Lau, Anouck, Seb and Mat for this wonderful evening ! What's better than redoing the world with your friends sharing a delicious wine? I don't know...
