My brother's stammtisch

If you don't know me and follow a bit this blog, you must think that I only eat in expensive or gourmet restaurant. Well, that is not entirely true. I eat quite often at home, where I really enjoy to cook (I have regular followers that appear at my door everytime) and I also enjoy some laid back or simple restaurants as well sometimes.

Therefore, I decided to post now on this blog some budget or value for money adresses, that are off course still delicious and worth trying !

I am going to start today with Oca Giuliva.
My brother has been living in Milan for about 3 years now. Although he might not be a foody like me, he still really likes to eat well and showed me some nice places in Milan already. Among them, there is restaurant where my brother is welcome like a celebrity (imagine Jack Nicholson at the Ivy or Sharon Stone at the Ritz) : l'Oca as we like to call it.

Oca is a simple typical milanese restaurant that serves good food at unbeatable prices. The pizzas are cooked in an oven with real wood and the pasta are freshly baked every day. The cotoletta (milanese version of the Wiener Schnitzel) is tasty and seerved with little tomatoes and ruccola.

The owner, Luigi, is always walking around the place to make you try the latest salami he brought back from the countryside or the limoncello from his 27th degree cousin.

I strongly recommed you to order some pizza as a starter (think 4 Stagione or Parma ham), then some delicious pasta with the salmon and nuts sauce, or the simple tomato basil sauce. After that, if you are still hungry, a cotoletta or a little tagliata di manzo (slices of beef grilled and served with some vegetables) might be the perfect match. Off course, you don't want to leave before trying the tiramisu or the pana cotta.
It might sound quite heavy but nothing that a Myrthe liquor or a limoncello won't cure !

You will eat like crazy, drink some table wine from the casa and a coffee and it might not cost you more than 20€. The pizza is around 7€ and the cotoletta 12€ (I think).

If you go there during the week, there is a strong chance you might bump into my brother, his friends or me. Come say hi !
