I read in a magazine lately an interview of one of England's most talented barman. He was complaining that, in most places in Europe nowadays, people are drinking a pale western version of the original cuban "mojito". According to this guy, a real mojito is made with ice cubes, and not crushed ice, white rum, and not brown, loads of mint, and not 3 or 4 leafs and a bit of angostura bitter.
This article made me realize that the cuban bar I sometimes go to next to my home is actually serving a proper cuban mojito.
The place is called "La bodeguita del Medio", like Hemingway's favourite bar in Cuba. They have an impressive collection of rums and sometimes live cuban musician whom are giving the place its great "buena vista social club" vibe.
I really enjoy a drink there on the terrace after a long day of work and encourage you to join me if you pass my Milan !
Hasta luego !
