Dried Meat from the valley in the belly

Dear friends,

Yesterday in Milan, I decided to open my last pack of Salsiz from Hatecke.
Now I guess you are all wondering what language I am speaking.

In Switzerland we are known for many things : watches, chocolate, banking, yours truly and ...Dried Meat.
The dried meat is a delicacy from the Engadin valley in the south eastern part of Switzerland. Basically, the region of St-Moritz.

I was invited there over new years by my friend Florian for a few days. We did many things and he and his family were fantastic hosts.

They even took me to have lunch at Hatecke. Hatecke is THE best place to buy dried meat (probably in the world). They have meat from very different animals (beef, deer, venison) and are known to prepare it as "Salsiz". It basically look like a little tube and it made out of the best part of the animal (like the filet).

Located in the heart of St-Moritz, the restaurant offers amazing burgers (it’s like the perfect new year’s hangover lunch) and great meat sandwiches.

The other side of the place is where the shop is located. It looks a bit like a luxury chocolate shop (think Marcolini) with a glassed counter and black, grey and white shades.

I can only encourage you to go try the place ! and to send me some Salsiz by Fedex when in the shop ;-)
