Dear Friends,
A few days ago I went for diner with my friend Elisa to Al Porto. I didn't knew this restaurant before but according to my interist (that's the word used to define a fan of the Inter Milano football team) friend Gabi and his dad, Ivo, it was the best fish restaurant of Milan.
So there I was, cruising the internet and the guides to see if that statement was justified. I found actually only good critics of the place on the web so decided to try it. After a warm welcome by the boss, we were escorted to our table on the first floor. The restaurant's interior looks like a boat with wooden walls and little aquariums.
As a starter, we decided to share a plate of raw fish (misto de pesce crudo) which was tasting like heaven. The tuna was melting in my mouth (in a good, fresh and delicious way) and the raw shrimps were seasoned to perfection.
We decided to try the Orata for the main course (Daurade in French) instead of the usual Branzino (Seabass) that I always order at the Giardino (where I went last night and where it was delicious as usual)
The Orata was cooked to perfection and served with some little vegetables.
We then shared a panacotta topped with caramel syrup that Elisa just loved !
On our way out, we were advised by the boss to come back so he could prepare us the Orata the way his mother used to it, with thyme and lemon. I'll let you know about that soon enough !
I strongly recommend this place to any fish lover. It's worth the trip down corso Genova.
